For this project I used pieces of rolled play to create a pot. The media is soft clay with slip. In order to make this project I had to roll out coils and put one on top of another by slipping and scoring them, and also smoothing out the inside of the pot with each coil. An art element in this project it definitely line, more specifically different types of line giving it and interesting look. One design element is definitely movement, the swirls and the top line going over the spheres give it contrasting movement. Again, this was one of my first glazed projects, the so glaze was uneven and caused pulling in certain areas. Over this project give the feeling of Chinese origin. With the spaces in between the swirls, and the spheres on top, it gives it a very Chinese guardian lion feeling.

For this project I tried to create a lantern. The media for this project was a firm slab piece of clay, which means after I cut out all the pieces I needed from a slab of soft clay, I let it sit out over night so that it could harden and become easier to work with in a upright position. One new skill that I learned was, after slipping and scoring all the pieces together, how apply a thin roll of clay to the creases to help adhere the individual clay pieces to each other even further. One of the main art elements on this piece, are the lines. Specifically referring to the leaves on the sides of the lantern. The leaves with that dark green color really pop of of the sides, they also look very dark in contrast of the light sides. All together this project feels very earthy. with the brown inside, and the green leaves with the tarnish outside, it gives a very earthy and natural feel.
For this project I tried to create a cup. The media for this project was a soft slab piece of clay. One new skill that I learned the importance of evenly applied glaze. This project's glaze was a little lacking, in some areas there was too little of glaze and too much in others which caused it to pull away in some areas leaving bare spots. Some of the art elements in this project that stand out, were the blue color I applied by dipping, then wiping all the access off so that it was just in the crevasses. The blue does stand out against the white really well, I will definitely try this glaze pairing again This project gives me sort of a Victorian era feel, probably due to the color choices and the pattern on the cup. If I could go back and change one thing, it would be the glaze, and I would apply it more evenly so that the finished product looked better.
For our group coil project we decided to make a flower pot for Mr. Kurka. This could port consist if spirals, lines, and triangles. For glazing we decided to do it in a dark green glaze on bottom and light green on the very top, we painted on the glaze and sponged off the bottom to it was safe for the kiln. One new skill I learned was how to roll clay our into an even band with my hands. For this project it has many differing lines, all ranging in thickness and shape. There are lines going different ways and swirling which makes it interesting to look at. Also the color of glaze we chose is a very nice, the greens really compliments the intention we had behind the project. The importance of this project is that I learned how to create a coil pot, I project looks good so it mean that our group worked well and efficiently together.
This is my pinch pot project, and for my project I tried to create an elephant. This Project is white with a bit of blue glaze. How I went about glazing is was a painted the glaze on in white then I sponged off the access, then I added blue in the areas that I wanted to be blue. A few skills I learned was how to attach pieces of clay together by slipping and scoring. The piece has nice form and shape, it does indeed look like an elephant. I feel like everything on the elephant is pretty proportional, well besides the legs which I wanted to be smaller to give it more of a cute stuffed animal feel. Although the blue did run more than I originally thought I still like how it came out, it makes me think of water, The importance of this project is I learned that sometime certain glazes can run more than others.
